CHORAL WORKSHOP – 24TH FEBRUARY 2024

Many thanks to the 56 singers who signed up for our workshop – Fair to say I think that everyone had a great time (and ate a lot of scrummy homemade cakes). Several visitors subsequently signed up to join us for the remainder of the term and sing in the concert on 19th May (see EVENTS). A very warm Wincantonian welcome to our newest recruits.

Some Feedback from our Visitors

“Thanks for a very enjoyable day – well organised, friendly folk, enjoyable refreshments and of course, you have an excellent new conductor – Neil Moore was helpful without doing too much note bashing, he charged forward with enthusiasm and was clear in his instructions (so helpful as a visitor!) You are most fortunate to find him, and it’s a great pity I can’t do Monday evenings!

Do keep me on a list if you run more of the singing days, any of the classic choral repertoire would be most interesting.

Please thank the WCS team, Neil Moore and the accompanist, who did a great job throughout.

Kind regards,  Jo.”

“Really enjoyed today and thought Neil was terrific.  Lucky you! Still singing in London on Mondays !

“Hi

It was a great time on Saturday. I have been deliberating about joining for the rest of the term. I forgot to collect the application form from you so I will come to rehearsal tonight. Grace”

A NEW MUSICAL DIRECTOR FOR WINCANTON CHORAL SOCIETY

For Wincanton Choral Society, this marks the start of a new chapter when we welcome our new Music Director, Neil Moore. He will take up his appointment on 1st June ready for the autumn season beginning on 11th September. Neil is an experienced and accomplished musician and Music Director, who already conducts five other local choirs, based in and around Frome. He sings professionally and also with the Bath Cantata amongst other choral groups, and those of us who attended a recent rehearsal with him can attest that he has a fine counter-tenor voice and boundless energy. We look forward to new musical adventures with Neil, along with singing some old favourites.
